Columbia University will hold celebrations too

NEW YORK: The Consulate General of India, New York, in association with the Ambedkar International Mission (AIM) celebrated the 122nd birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar, at the Consulate premises.
The Acting Consul General, New York, Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Dr. Baliram Gaikwad, a Fulbright Post- Doctoral Fellow, University of Florida and Raju Kamble, President, AIM, inaugurated the program by garlanding a photograph of Ambedkar.
Gaikwad talked about Ambedkar’s contribution towards nation-building and bringing social change in India through constitutional means, and doing away with various divisions in society, of laying the ground work for a modern India.
Khobragade highlighted the significance of this year’s celebration as the centenarian year of Ambedkar’s induction into Columbia University and spoke of forthcoming celebrations planned to commemorate this event at the university.
Participants at the meet included members of the Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha of New York and Begumpura Cultural Society of New York.
