Being trained by the real Mary Kom’s trainers.

MUMBAI: Priyanka Chopra’s action moves in films like ‘Don’ and ‘Don 2’ were certainly one to look out for, other than the film itself. It’s time that she takes the fighting avatar one step ahead in her next film, ‘Mary Kom’, a biopic on Olympian boxer Mary Kom.
The actress was back to work immediately post her recently released action-thriller ‘Gunday’ on Valentine’s Day. Industry sources revealed that her training for ‘Mary Kom’ would last 10 days before the actual shoot begins. The grueling session has been planned by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the producer of Mary Kom, so as to get her into the shoes of the athlete and maintain the physicality and flexibility needed to portray the role.
The next schedule of the film begins on February 28th and the makers are waiting for the actress to shed her previous cabaret dancer role she portrayed in ‘Gunday’, and get into the mood of donning boxing gloves.
The 10-day training period will then extend to a good 45-day schedule, which can be touted as one of the longest ever in Bollywood. The filmmakers are not in a hurry to wind up the session quickly as the film is a mega project in every aspect. Chopra too, feels the same and is supportive with respect to her preparation.
The training will indeed be a tiring one for Chopra as her trainers are the same who have extensively worked with the athlete before. Before they came on board for the movie, the actress was being trained under Samir Jaura who had earlier trained Farhan Akhtar for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.’
Jaura had already shot three to four fight sequences with Chopra in the last schedule of the film. He is reportedly helping out Hrithik Roshan for ‘Bang Bang’ and Rani Mukherjee for ‘Mardaani.’
