Porn star Belle Knox aka Miriam Weeks is half desi: her mother is Indian American

Duke University student hits headlines for her bold revelations.

WASHINGTON, DC: Porn star “Belle Knox,” who is, in fact, an 18 year-old Duke University student named Miriam Weeks, has desi roots: her mother, Harcharan Kaur Weeks, is of Indian origin.

The revelation that Miriam Weeks was moonlighting as an adult film star came as a shock for her 48-year-old mother, and 54 year-old father Dr. Kevin Weeks, an army physician who had just returned from being stationed abroad when he found out about his daughter’s new profession. The reason, she says, is to help alleviate her family’s financial burden by paying for her own college tuition.

Miriam Weeks is the youngest of three children; she has a 20 year-old sister named Anita and a 22 year-old brother named Paul. The family is from Spokane, Washington, where their father is a well-respected doctor at the Mann Grandstaff VA Medical Center, pulling down somewhere around $200,000 per year. Weeks was always a strong student, and was a “Spokane Scholar” during her final year at Gonzage Prep School, a Jesuit private school with tuition costing $11,000 per year.

Now, however, her finances have become more precarious. Initially, Weeks told the media that she had turned to doing adult films because her parents had cut off her funding, a statement she even made on Piers Morgan Live. Her agent, John Steven, backs up this claim, as well, telling reporters that Weeks needed a quick and lucrative way to make ends meet.

But now, it appears that her parents have not cut her off, but simply did not get enough aid money from Duke University to satisfy Weeks. Annual tuition at the prestigious private institution costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $60,000, but because her father makes a handsome six-figure salary (her mother is a housewife), she was only able to get about $13,000 per year in aid.

Now, the family is reeling from the discovery that their daughter is infamous porn vixen Belle Knox. Reports indicate that the family, although hurt, will not abandon Weeks, and will continue to support her financially and otherwise. Her eldest brother, along with his wife, has apparently taken things the hardest, and is “embarrassed” by his sister.

Weeks was outed by a classmate of hers, who is now facing bullying of his own for his actions. As for Weeks – she’s perfectly fine with the whole situation. While she has admitted that she wishes she told her family sooner, and that there was less media focus on them, she stands by her actions and finds being a porn star “empowering.”

Now, she joins other desi porn stars like Sunny Leone and Priya Rai, although there’s no indication that Weeks will make this a legitimate career post-college. She has not yet announced her major, but plans to spend all her breaks filming in New York, Los Angeles, and other cities, making $1,500-$2,000 per shoot.

“Ain’t nobody like a desi girl?” For the porn industry, looks like a half-desi girl will do just fine.

One can’t help but wonder if Miriam Weeks decision to pursue a porn career had little to do with financial hardships, after all she was offered a full scholarship to Vanderbilt but more as a guise to break out against a tough and strict religious upbringing as a kind of rebellion and simply throw it into the wind, knowing that the pay would be good, knowing that she could use the paradigm of the adult film industry to legitimize her latent sexual desires. Isn’t that the real empowering truth that one is curious to hear about as opposed to the morbid idea that one subscribes to a kind of subjugation of their being by pursuing a vocation that innately by its very construct is demeaning to women, no matter how liberating it may be to be in front of the camera man…

Could be. She clearly thinks very little of herself, that’s for sure.

I bet she making her father proud. NOT!

She can replace Sunny Leone in Bollywood.

Maybe if people start associating faces with sex workers, and realize that they’re actual people, they will also realize that they have actual human rights. Hopefully her decision to come forward and sacrifice your privacy in defense of her own life and body will give people a push in the right direction.

Sex workers are more than a statistic in a society that thrives on their product but demeans and rejects their value as actual workers and humans. If the demand didn’t exist, pornography wouldn’t either. Women do not have to be silent about their sexuality, and have every right to embrace and celebrate it as she has, as publicly or privately as they choose too.

Its hypocritical and shameful that people are treating her so poorly. No one should be told they deserved to be raped. Its incredible that the people demeaning her for taking control of her own life are also threatening her and advertising violence, especially sexual violence. What sort of moral authority do they represent to judge her?

And maybe if tuition wasn’t so unnecessarily fucking high, students wouldn’t be making porn to pay for it.

Start a free porn application that will liberate all the downtrodden sex slaves.
Subscription charges begin the 2nd year.

Its called Whassup, and why Facebook paid 19 billion to acquire it.

    • MrAl

Those people judging her are the worst kind.

  • Veronica

she’s from spokane WASHINGTON not illinois. gonzaga prep is in spokane washington

The moral of this story? Its simple. Some folks are just made to be whores. Give them a Dad who earns $200000 a year and still they will be whores. She is just doing a job she has gotten to like. It supports her extravagant profligate pub-crawling lifestyle. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with poor little red riding hood wanting desperately to pay for her tuition. That’s just a front. She inadvertently makes it look like she is a Smita Patil in a Shyam Benegal movie. Tortured, destitute, rejected, crippled father, lascivious boss, three little hungry sisters and Naushadji’s music.

    • MrAl

Who are you to judge her?! You sound like the typical hypocrite jerking off to porn secretly but denouncing the ones providing the material.

    • Sarita La Cubanita

Despite the strong wording you used, there is a certain truth in this. She comes from a well-to-do background and wants to prostitute herself because her well-to-do life isn’t good enough for her.

  • Michael

She doesn’t even make any sense when she tries to justify herself. Watch the video that was posted of her on Efukt and go to the end. She gets into a debate with the guy and she is totally owned.

  • JIM SWIT

she don’t give a damn about sex workers rights, she’s make millions from her movies, marketing sex toys, dancing at strip clubs & now a book.as soon as her glory fade, she’s drop out from Duke, take the money & run she is a phony

  • MrAl

Miriam Weeks actually ENJOYED her job in the adult industry. She has not been forced to anything. You should be more outraged by the ridiculously high tuition fees for Duke and all the other Ivy league universities.

    • Sarita La Cubanita

That’s incorrect. Someone in my family attends Duke and Duke will provide a huge amount of financial support, if merited. Clearly something that didn’t apply to her, but she’s one of these people who wants what she wants when she wants it “or else.” Well, she did the “or else” and will be forever known for this crap. What she did reflects what she is inside.
