A dog has a right, too, to fall in love with Miss America.

WASHINGTON, DC: Miss America Nina Davuluri was one of the guests of honor at the White House’s annual Egg Roll Easter celebration on Monday, with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama overseeing the festivities on April 21.
Around 30,000 people attended the 136th iteration of the White House Egg Roll, which draws massive crowds to the Presidential manor every spring. Davuluri was part of the main event, the Egg Roll itself, in which children from around the country push eggs through a course on the lawn of the White House by using long-handled spoons.
Additionally, Davuluri participated in the Storytime Stage, in which several celebrities and guests of honor read to the assembled children. She read the book “The Giving Tree,” by famed children’s writer Shel Silverstein, which was originally published in 1964. After the reading, Davuluri also participated in a questions and answer session with the children.
Davuluri even found time for a smooch! Who was the lucky recipient? Sunny, the Obama’s female Portuguese water dog, who took an immediate liking to the reigning Miss America (and who could blame her). The kiss was captured on camera, and Davuluri later re-tweeted it with the caption “Love this!” Davuluri’s day at the White House included a photo-op with Sunny.
Other celebrities also in attendance were Washington Redskins quarterback and local hero Robert Griffin III, and Nationals pitcher Geo Gonzalez. Indian American chef Maneet Chauhan was also part of the festivities, and helped cook the event’s delicious treats.
This year’s event carried the theme of “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape.” First Lady Michelle Obama has long been an advocate for mitigating childhood obesity and getting kids active, and she used the annual Easter celebration at the White House to further that cause.
