Sudhir Parikh, Niranjan Rao, Chetan Shah appointed.

NEW YORK: Three Indian American physicians have been appointed to the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners: Drs. Sudhir Parikh, Niranjan Rao, and Chetan Shah.
Governor Chris Christie made the announcement in late March, as part of a slew of appointments he handed over to the New Jersey Secretary of State’s office. In addition to the aforementioned three appointees to the Board of Medical Examiners, Christie also re-appointed psychologist Dr. Shamita Dasgupta to the state’s Domestic Violence Fatality and Near-Fatality Review Board.
Parikh is an allergist and immunologist, who originally hails from Gujarat. He attended Ahmedabad’s Gujarat University before earning his M.B.B.S. at the city’s B.J. Medical College, and then immigrated to the US. He completed his residencies and fellowships in New York City, and is currently a member of several medical state-wide and national medical associations, including the American College of Allergy and Immunology, the New Jersey Medical Society, and the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
According to his website, Parikh has 21 offices spread across both New York and New Jersey, and is affiliated with six local hospitals: Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, St. Peter’s Medical Center, the St. Barnabas Medical Center, the St. Mary Medical Center, the Jersey City Medical Center, and Chilton Hospital. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the RWJ Medical School, and Trustee of the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin (AAPI). Parikh is also the founder of the Parikh Worldwide Media group, which brings out several community news publications, including News-India Times and Desi Talk.
Rao specializes in Vascular Surgery, and is board-certified in both that field and General Surgery. He is currently employed at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital University, just like Parikh. He earned his medical degree from Karnataka’s Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, then came to the Albert Einstein medical Center in Philadelphia for his residency, and finally the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for his fellowship.
Finally, Shah is an otolaryngologist who specializes in eye and ear care. He earned his B.A. and M.D. as part of a six-year combined program at Rutgers University and the RWJ Medical School. He then did his surgical training at the Newark campus of UMDNJ. Shah is certified by the American Board of Otolarynology, and treats both adults and children, according to his staff page at Princeton Eye and Ear.
