WASHINGTON, DC: Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira, seems to be following her father’s footsteps when it comes to social causes. The 17-year-old child star will soon be hosting a celebrity football match to raise awareness and to support animal welfare causes.
Ira’s decision to host a celebrity football match is a part of Bollywood’s new football fever which is a direct result of the FIFA world cup that is going on in Brazil. Recently Ranbir Kapoor organized a football match to support his cousin Armaan Jain in promoting his film Lekur Hum Deewana Dil.
To support her social cause, many Bollywood celebrities will be taking part in Ira’s football match. Among them will be stars like Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, who is a regular in celebrity football matches, and Tiger Shroff. Also, Sachin Tendulkar who is a good friend of Ira’s father will be taking part in the football match too.
Ira’s cousin, Bollywood star Imran Khan may not take part in this football match, except as a viewer. The actor admitted to knowing nothing of this popular game.
Ira Khan recently passed her 2014 ICSE examinations with a score of 89%. Word is, that she is quite the avid footballer herself and organizes a football match with family members every year on her birthday. So it is not altogether surprising that she chose this medium to help support her animal welfare cause. The money raised from the football match will go to an NGO of Ira’s choice who will thereafter work towards providing shelter to animals.
This is not the first time one of Aamir’s children has organised a sports event to help support a social cause. A few years ago, Ira’s brother Junaid had organised a cricket match between celebrities for the underprivileged people in Maharashtra. Aamir’s co-star from Andaaz Apna Apna, Salman Khan was part of this event.
