NEW DELHI: Yet another horrendous rape has occurred in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh: this time, in Ghaziabad, as a young woman was brutally gang-raped by four men and had a bottle shoved inside of her.
The victim, an unidentified 22 year-old female, alleges that she was kidnapped by four men and gang-raped inside a moving Maruti van. The girl’s hands and feet were bound while this was happening, was beaten mercilessly, and at one point during the incident, a bottle was shoved into her private areas and left there.
She was then thrown from the vehicle near the Fortis hospital in Noida, reports The Hindustan Times, where she was picked up by a passerby who immediately notified the police. They, however, took her to the police station first, rather than taking her to the hospital for the medical care she clearly required so urgently.
Now, police are investigating the woman’s claims, and have already taken at least one of the four suspected men into custody. That man is said to have known the victim, and allegedly has a history of stalking and harassing the victim via text message, even using her in an extortion scheme against another man.
The Ghaziabad police, however, want to make sure that the woman’s claims are completely true before going full-steam-ahead with their investigation. Speaking to local media, SSP Dharmendra Singh said that several false complaints have been filed recently, and that if this turns out to be true, than the girl will be arrested.
However, The Times of India reports that the girl’s medical examination did come back positive for signs of rape and severe injury, meaning that her story is almost certainly true.
