WASHINGTON, DC: The IIFA Awards, Bollywood’s annual and biggest awards jamboree, concluded recently in Florida, but it’s going to pale in front of an astounding line-up of top stars led by Shah Rukh Khan, who will embark on a tour of the US and Canada, starting from Houston, Texas on September 19th, concluding in San Jose, California, on September 28.
Entitled ‘Slam: The Tour’, the 10-day extravaganza – which would be a concert-cum-star entertainment in North America – will, apart from King Khan, feature on stage the unarguably number one Bollywood actress at the moment, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Farah Khan Kunder, Malaika Arora Khan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah, Kanika Kapoor, and Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Shah Rukh, who will perform in North America after 10 years – though over the years he has been in New York along with Kajol to promote his film ‘My Name is Khan’ and gave a talk at Yale, and on his way to which he was detained for lengthy questioning at the JFK Airport – is primarily doing the tour to promote his upcoming film ‘Happy New Year,’ a heist thriller based on ‘Ocean’s Eleven’.
The tour itinerary: it begins September 19 at Toyota Center in Houston, and will then come to the East Coast, to the Continental Arena in New Jersey, before crossing the border to go to Air Canada Center in Toronto, then move back to the US, with a stop at Sears Center Arena in Chicago and then again go back to Canada, to the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver, before traversing back across, to the SAP Center in San Jose, California, on September 28.
“I am blessed to get a lot of love and support from people around the world. This is our way of giving this love back and thanking you all. I am super excited and looking forward to being in your city,” said Khan in a statement.
