MUMBAI: Actress Rani Mukherji is gearing up for release of her next film Mardaani. The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress is playing the role of a police officer in the film and will be seen doing action scenes.
The last film she came in was ‘Talaash’, in which Rani played a supporting role, as the wife of a police officer played by Aamir Khan. After giving outstanding performances in films like ‘Black’, Rani’s magic on screen has slowly faded away.
Now with the upcoming release of Mardaani, Rani is ready to take the lead again as she plays the strong and fierce character of a cop in this film. The film focuses on the issue of trafficking and the fight against it.
The first poster of Mardaani showed the actress giving a stern look as she held a gun in one hand. The second official poster of this film has been released and again it showcases Rani’s character holding down a goon. To support this, the filmmakers have posted a video on a popular social networking site. This video showcases Rani talking about self-defense techniques. This video starts with a line that says, ‘The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.’
Clearly, the movie hasn’t instilled too much ‘mardaani’ in her, going by her dress code.
Despite wearing formal trousers and shirts for most of the movie ,for the promotions she has opted to go for specially designed sarees. And when it comes to sarees, there’s only one name that she trusts.
“It had to be Sabya,” she exclaimed.
The actress was happy to be present for Sabyasachi’s latest couture showcase.
“I can only say that I am very happy to have Sabya as my brother, my friend and my family. I’m lucky to know him…and yes, he makes such beautiful clothes,” she said.
Although Mardaani isn’t out till August 22, the actor visited the sets of popular Indian dance show Jhalak Dikhla Ja to promote it anyways.
For the appearance, it was a black Sabyasachi anarkali featuring a gold embroidered dupatta.
