MUMBAI: As director Faisal Saif gets ready to go on the floors with Amma, the film that stars Ragini Dwivedi, it’s learnt that Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav will play the antagonist in the movie.
Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa is known as Amma and it’s speculated that the film could be based on her life. Reports says the film will be made in five languages; Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
“Rajpal will add punch to the film with his negative shades,” says Faisal, who goes on to explain why he chose him for the role. “People have never seen Rajpal play the antagonist. He is a wonderful person and I think his personality will make his character very interesting. I have taken it up as a challenge to present Rajpal in a brand new avatar.”
According to Faisal, the only person who can stand up to Amma (Ragini Dwivedi) in the film is Rajpal. “He is the best villain I could come up with. The actor who is not so tall will scare the hell out of everyone with his act,” he says.
The actor who for years has charmed viewers with his comic timing and larger than life actions has always been a director’s favorite when it comes to comic roles. In movies like Malamaal weekly, Kal Ho Na Ho and Hungama he had the audience in splits. His fans will certainly enjoy seeing him in an entirely new role as a baddie in the heroine centered film Amma.
The first schedule of Amma will start on August 22 in Bangalore.
