NEW DELHI: After the declaration by Karan Johar that his production house will be remaking the Hollywood hit ‘Warrior’ into ‘Brothers’, he is now all set to join hands with Bollywood director Rohit Shetty for a remake of the 80’s classic ‘Ram Lakhan’.
Johar has bought the remake rights from Subhash Ghai, director of the master piece for a whopping amount of Rs. 5 crores. The interesting part of this is that the association is not just between Johar and Shetty but with Ghai himself.
The film will be co-produced by Ghai’s Mukta Arts and Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Johar took to twitter to make another important announcement regarding the remake and posted: “Here’s the big announcement! Rohit Shetty & Karan Johar, in association with Mukta Arts, presents RAM LAKHAN in 2016.”
The classic movie’s ensemble cast included Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Madhuri Dixit, Rakhee Gulzar and Amrish Puri. But the cast for the remake has not been finalized.
Ever since the news has hit social media platform, people are coming out with suggestions to pair Student of the Year male leads or the stars of Gunday.
Dharma Productions has now three projects in the pipeline: Shuddhi, Brothers and the remake of Ram Lakhan.
Johar has also talked to the media about producing an edgy sex comedy which will be directed by Sonam Nair. However, the details of that film are awaited.
