MUMBAI: Mumbai-based model-turned-actress Anjalie Gupta will make her debut in the Tollywood industry with the forthcoming movie ‘Nala Damayanthi’, under the direction of Ko Ve Ra who has worked as assistant to screen writer Vijayandra Prasad.
Anjalie’s paired with Sri Vishnu in this romantic film, which has a slight mythological twist to it. Satya 2 was all about a man who comes to reinvent the underworld. While in that movie Anjalie only made a short appearance, she is hoping the upcoming movie will be her big break.
On being asked about playing the lead in a movie for the first time, she told The Times of India: “I’m playing the role of a girl, who’s very sensitive, emotional and traditional. And it’s in complete contrast to the role of an aspiring actress that I did in Satya 2. It was a learning experience for me. However, this will be my first full-fledged role and I’m quite excited about it.”
Anjalie will soon head to Kerala to shoot key portions of the film.
Anjalie who is a Mumbai born girl, doesn’t apparently know how to even speak the language. She bursts out laughing recalling an incident which occurred on the first day of the shoot.
“I think my director had high expectations from me when I came onboard and I didn’t know that I was supposed to say my lines in Telugu. It was so tough that I even thought of running away, but I hung on to it and took it up as a challenge to learn my lines. I’m doing my best to make a name for myself here,” she admits.
The male lead Sri Vishnu has played important roles in movies like Prema Ishq Kaadhal, Second Hand and Pratinidhi.
