NEW DELHI: No one would have thought that the film which has gone through extreme scrutiny and censorship could receive so huge an appreciation.
Enamored by the way the film Mardaani has been executed, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given it a tax free status in Madhya Pradesh.
Prior its release, Aditya Chopra got into arguments with the Censor Board regarding the deletion of some important dialogues and scenes. But the film had a strong social message that were more important for filmgoers.
Chouhan went for the movie with his family and was awe struck with Rani Mukherjee’s power packed performance and the message that the film conveyed.
The chief minister turned to twitter to praise the film and send his felicitations to both Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra. His tweet read:
“After a very long time went along with family to watch a movie. Mardaani turned out to be a soul stirring saga highlighting the societal evil. I congratulate Rani Mukerji for a wonderful and powerful performance in ‘Mardaani’. Aditya Chopra has done well to produce this movie. Trafficking of young girls and women is worst evil which needs to be eliminated. ‘Mardaani’ has brought it into focus. We will give ‘tax free’ status to ‘Mardaani’ in Madhya Pradesh considering the bold social message conveyed by it”.
Honored by the response, Rani and Aditya issued an official statement to the declaration. Their tweet had the essence of thanksgiving and read:
Thankyou Shri ChouhanShivraj for your appreciation of MARDAANI & its message and deciding to give the film Tax Free Status in MP. Trafficking of girls and women needs to be completely eradicated and we film-makers can only do this much in our limited capacity, but with support from you, others will also hopefully join in to take this cause forward meaningfully. Rani Mukerji & Aditya Chopra.”
This has been a good year for both of them – first, experiencing the bliss of marriage and now the critically acclaimed film.
