Homi Adajania based film on book by Khambatta.By Jasmine Raskoti
NEW DELHI: Usually it’s the book that arrives first and then the film is made. But in Finding Fanny, the case is a bit different. The film is said to be an adaptation from a 200 pages book that will be coming next year.
Homi Adajania, the director of the film, confirmed the news to glamsham.com. He says, “My co-writer, Kersi Khambatta, wrote the novel based on my short story of Finding Fanny and then we used that to develop the screenplay. My only issue was that I told him to keep the book on ice until the film was out.”
Adajania prefers books over films but he wanted the audience to experience the film beforehand.
He further says, “Now that it is releasing soon, Kersi can pimp the novel to publishers. It’s a funny read, and way more convoluted than the script.”
Kersi Khambatta who wrote the book is full of zeal. According to him, adapting a film from the book gave it color and precision. Their motive was to deliver the film first. Now the duo has got an offer from a reputed publishing house too.
The film has brought with it numerous surprise elements. The songs are quirky, and then it has underwent numerous cuts by the Censor Board which deleted the word ‘virgin’ from the film. It has also star Ranveer Singh playing ‘dead’ and not asking a penny for the role.
Finding Fanny is produced by Maddock Films & Dinesh Vijan. It’s being presented by Fox Star Studios. The film also stars Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
