NEW DELHI: It’s difficult to say if it’s the looks of Kalki Koechlin or her acting prowess that earned her the role in Soni Razdan’s next directorial venture titled Love Affair.
Days after her friend Gulshan Devaiah was roped in to play the lead role of K M Nanavati, Kalki joined the project to play the lead opposite him, as Sylvia.
Love Affair is based on the 1959 Nanavati murder case. The story revolves around K M Nanavati who is a naval officer, trying everything to protect his country and his wife Sylvia who was born in England. The couple has three children – two sons and a daughter.
When Nanavati toils on the borders of India to protect the nation, Sylvia out of loneliness falls in love with Prem Ahuja, a friend of her husband. After getting acquainted with his wife’s adulterous ways, Nanavati kills his friend.
It is said that the sketches of the roles played by Kalki and Gulshan will bear resemblance to the real life story. Chandan Roy Sanyal will be seen playing the role of the lawyer Ram Jethmalani. He was the special Public Prosecutor in the famous 1959 case. Pooja Bhatt, who is producing the film, has even contacted the lawyer.
Rumors are that Arjun Rampal has been approached for the role of the charming Prem Ahuja. Soni Razdan is walking on the path of her husband Mahesh Bhatt who once said that he will never cast his daughter in his film. Soni too maintained the words and chose Kalki over Alia Bhatt.
Love Affair is her second directorial venture, and will be produced by Pooja Bhatt in collaboration with T-Series.
