Celkon launched the company’s first Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone Win 400 for just Rs 4,999 ($81). The device becomes the world’s most affordable Windows smartphone, a title that Nokia Lumia 530 enjoyed till now.
Microsoft launched Nokia Lumia 530 with a price tag of Rs. 5,500 ($89) and the Indian smartphone brand Celkon beat that price by launching Win 400 only Rs. 500 ($8) lesser than the former to gain the title of the most affordable Windows smartphone ever.
There is no major addition to the technical specification of Win 400 compared to Lumia 530. Celkon has integrated the best available features that can be expected for an affordable smartphone in a price range below Rs. 5,000 ($81).
Win 400 has a 4-inch WVGA display and the phone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 200 SOC processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, the bare minimum to run the Windows operating system. The 4 GB internal storage of Win 400 can only be expanded up to 32 GB, but Lumia 350 can be expandable up to 128 GB like many other Lumia smartphones.
The new Celkon device has a dual camera: 5MP with LED flash in the rear and 1.3 MP in the front for selfies.
Win 400 smartphone has a dual sim slot with 3G connectivity feature. Even though the Windows operating system gives this smartphone an upper hand, it is not known whether it will get latest the Windows update.
Last but not least, the battery of Win 400 which is just 1500mAh is way too small for any smartphone with connectivity features such as WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth. For people who like surfing internet and watching videos, it is advisiable to carry a power bank because the battery cannot last more than 5 hours for avid users.
The black color variant of Win 400 is currently listed in Snapdeal for an exclusive offer price of Rs. 4702.
