BENGALURU: Indigenous smartphone manufacturer Micromax launched their latest handset in the Canvas series called Canvas Fire 4 priced at Rs. 6,999 ($113).
Unlike some of the devices recently launched, the new Canvas Fire 4 will be available both online and offline making it accessible even to people who are not internet savvy. Earlier, Micromax had launched a subsidiary brand called Yu, focusing internet savvy people in India who purchase electronic good via e-commerce websites.
The newly launched Canvas Fire 4 is one of the early Indian smartphones in the budget level to come preloaded with Android Lollipop OS. The device has a 4.5-inch touchscreen display and is powered by unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. The captive touch display of the smartphone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Canvas Fire 4 has an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and an additional 2MP front camera for selfies. The device is backed by a 2000mAh battery which boasts of 300 hours of standby time. It also has an inbuilt storage capacity of 8GB expandable up to 32GB using MicroSD card.
One of the major improvements of the new Canvas devices, when compared to the older versions is the new dual front speakers and Cirrus Logic Wolfsam Stereo DAC audio output. The dual speakers housed on top and bottom of the Canvas Fire 4 resembles HTC devices that also feature Dual speakers.
The device also has a backlight alert that gives notifications even when phone is upside down. The Micromax punch icon at the back of Canvas Fire 4 lights up to notify you every time user gets a message, call or email.
The new Canvas Fire 4 has all major connectivity options such as Dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. It also comes preloaded with a host of apps like M! Live, Housing, M! Games, Reverie, Clean Master, Trending Apps, Dr. Safety, Snapdeal, Saavn and Ask me. The handset is available in Black and Silver color options.
