Indian contingent won more than 150 medals at meet in Virginia.

ACCOKEEK, MD: Members of the Indian contingent who won more than 150 medals at the 2015 World Police & Fire Games in Fairfax County, Virginia, were feted here on Sunday.
The event hosted by entrepreneur Sunil Singh at his Accokeek, MD, home was attended by a number of Indian American community leaders, as well as Team India Manager P.K. Bhardwaj, Deputy Manager Satish Rathi and team doctor Vivek Mathur.
The 10-day event, held at various arenas in Fairfax County and surrounding areas, concluded on Sunday. India’s performance was the best-ever, according to Bhardwaj, who’s the Commissioner of Immigration.

Singh, who is also the Chairman of the National Council of Asian Indian Association, said he hosted the event to “appreciate the efforts of the athletes who made India proud.” He added, “We are Indians, we always encourage Indians who are doing good things,” he said.
“It is incredible that Indian athletes performed so well, maintaining the image of India,” Dr. Sambhu Banik, a community leader, said. “It was really a proud moment for India and Indian Americans.”
Bhardwaj, who’s the commissioner of Bureau of Immigration, and team members thanked the hosts for the hospitality.
Swimmer Richa Mishra, who won 6 gold medals at the Games, said the event provided an opportunity for to unwind, bask in the warm hospitality of the diaspora after a grueling competition, in which they exceeded everyone’s expectations.
