WASHINGTON, DC: Authorities have launched an investigation after photos showed a US marshal having sex on the roof of the federal courthouse in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
A resident of a nearby apartment building who was concerned that there was a security breach snapped the pictures last week and sent them to WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, which alerted authorities, according to the Associated Press.
US Attorney’s spokeswoman Dawn Mayko told Pennlive.com the office was made aware of the photos on Wednesday. She says they depict a couple engaged in sex acts on the roof of the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse.
“An initial inquiry has determined that one of the individuals involved is an employee of the United States Marshal Service,” said US Marshal Service spokesman Tony Nelson. “Given this fact, the incident is under further investigation and it will be handled in accordance with USMS policy. In the meantime, we are confident that the security integrity of the courthouse is intact.”
The US Marshals’ latest scandal arrives exactly a month after former Director Stacia Hylton had to clarify that allegations of improper hiring and misuse of funds in her agency had nothing to do with her resignation.
Whistleblowers allege that three senior executives needed help with job applications so they enlisted government contractors and government employees to draft the applications. Then, the executives told the contractors to charge the government for the time.
The agency’s apparent failure to accurately track and measure the use of [Asset Forfeiture Fund] monies to support [asset forfeiture] work significantly impairs oversight and accountability for USMS’ use of the fund,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said in a letter to Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates. “This type of lax accounting encourages and perpetuates a culture of impunity for waste and mismanagement.”
