BENGALURU: Salman Khan’s Eid release, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, is breaking records day after day as his fans are in a frenzy to watch the actor’s adventurous journey to Pakistan, helping a blind girl to reach home after she accidentally crosses the volatile border.
The film directed by Kabir Khan has not only been a hit in India but also in Pakistan where the actor has a large number of fan followers. Another reason for the success of the move in Pakistan is because of the cross-border theme, which is unusual in Bollywood.
Released on Eid, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has already collected Rs. 250 crore from the Indian Box Office and is set to make a new record in Bollywood as it has already become the third highest grosser, next to ‘PK’ and ‘Dhoom 3’.
Looking at the current performance of the movie in the theatres, it is expected to cross the record set by Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ of Rs. 350 crore within the first few months of release. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has Kareena Kapoor playing opposite Salman Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a prominent role. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is the highest grosser of 2015 till now.

The movie has all the trappings of a Front-Bencher, Crore-Busters. It provides cheap thrill and entertainment to the masses, who lack taste and class or appreciation for real movies like “Dum Laga Ke Haisa”. Like “PK” and other movies of this genre, it has cheap humor and religious insensitivity (Hindus worship monkey Gods but not monkeys) The movie misleads the public that Kashmir is part of Pakistan and the censors seem to have no objection or there is no more censorship of movies. It has cheap choreography and odd gyrations by the bulky hero, with music, which is more malady than melody.
It has what the movie going public in India want and it comes gift wrapped with candy floss. The hero has very limited acting skills, but this is of least concern to his fanatical fans. in the later half a side kick joins the show and then we see some real acting. But both men are eclipsed by this cute little girl (conveniently mute-so she won’t reveal the plot,) who does a great job of pulling at the heart strings with her nods and head shaking. In fact, she is the only redeeming factor in the movie.
If this movie and “PK” are any indication of the future of Mumbai Movie Industry…then God Bless this Industry..
Helping a blind girl??? Mr. Dileep Thekkethil …did you watch the movie?
