WASHINGTON, DC: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will visit three US and two Canadian cities as part of a nine-day North America visit to promote his state later this month.
The chief minister will arrive in New York on August 16, accompanied by a high-level delegation, and is scheduled to also visit Washington, DC, San Francisco, Vancouver and Toronto. He will meet with business leaders and members of the Indian American community leaders.
“The primary aim of the visit is to showcase the progressive State of Haryana located in the northern part of India as an investment destination with its numerous competitive advantages,” Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, the director general of the state’s Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, said in a press release.
He said the focus areas for investment promotion would include solar and renewable energy-relative manufacturing initiatives, aerospace and defense manufacturing, textiles, information technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, auto and auto components, education and skill development, medical tourism, and research and development in other areas.
The chief minister will also visit “sunrise projects” in the focus areas, as well as some places of historical and cultural importance, Likhi said.
Khattar will arrive in the US capital by road from New York on August 18. The next day, he will leave for San Francisco.
The delegation will reach Vancouver on 21st afternoon and will depart for Toronto on 22nd.
Khattar is schedule to return on August 24, according to the Likhi.
Khattar became the chief minister of Haryana last October after the Bharatiya Janata Party won a clear majority in the elections.
Speaking at a conference in Gurgaon, earlier this week, the chief minister announced that the state would unveil a new IT policy to make Haryana an attractive destination for businesses.
