WASHINGTON, DC: Less than two weeks after finalizing its acquisition of satellite television provider DirecTV for $49 billion, traditional telecom power player AT&T has unveiled its first bundle of mobile and television services.
The nation’s second-largest mobile carrier unveiled the new offering on Monday, announcing that customers will soon be able choose a plan that includes high-definition television, a DVR, and wireless phone service that features unlimited talk and text with 10 gigabytes of data across four phone lines.
The plan is slated for public consumption on Aug. 10 at the base price of $200 per month. includes a basic, $50-a-month TV plan for up to four receivers as well as $160 per month for the four-phone wireless plan, plus a $10 monthly discount for customers who choose the new plan, reported Fortune.
“Today is the first of many planned moves to enable our customers to enjoy a premium entertainment experience almost everywhere,” said Brad Bentley, chief marketing officer of AT&T Entertainment and Internet services, according to CNet.
The new bundle is AT&T’s first new offering since the company received regulatory approval to merge with DirecTV, a deal that involved a 14 month-long regulatory review process and makes the combined company the largest television provider in the U.S.
When the Federal Communications Commission finally approved the merger between AT&T and DirecTV, the organization provided a list of stipulations, namely an agreement to expand AT&T’s high speed fiber Internet to 12.5 million customers while offering discounted broadband service to low-income customers over the next four years.
