WASHINGTON, DC: Bobby Jindal has been the butt of jokes across social media and the target of numerous attacks from gubernatorial candidates in his home state of Louisiana, but the haranguing has rarely been seemed as personal as it did during an annual state trooper convention in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
Speaking to a crowd of dozens of state troopers, U.S. Sen. David Vitter stated he thought the protection provided to the governor and his family was over the top.
“I would cut the bodyguards and others. That has gotten way too inflated,” Vitter said.
The senator recalled seeing “a caravan” taking Jindal’s children to school several years ago and thinking it was excessive.
Louisiana’s First Lady, Supriya Jindal, reacted with the conviction of a mother bear protecting her cubs, taking to Twitter, to publicly castigate the senator for his comments.
“David Vitter is free criticize my husband’s ideas and policy decisions all he wants, but he needs to stay away from our children,” she wrote.
Per the Times-Picayune:
At least two state troopers are assigned to Jindal, his wife and each of their three children at all times, but sometimes the protection can be heavier. Jindal’s security detail has become a sore point politically — because Louisiana is spending millions of dollars on sending the troopers outside of the state with the governor. Jindal is running for president, and spends more time away from Louisiana than other recent governors.
In June, the Louisiana Legislature voted to put restrictions on Jindal’s state police protection while he is on the presidential campaign trail, but the Indian American presidential hopeful vetoed the decision to limit his protection just a few weeks after it was passed.
The Advocate reported that more than $2 million has been emptied out of state coffers in order to cover the costs of frequently transporting his security to Iowa, New Hampshire, and other political arenas.
Meanwhile, other critics have accused Jindal of abandoning his gubernatorial responsibilities in Louisiana as he jets across the U.S. seeking support for a presidential run.
Jindal has since responded by claiming he is constantly in touch in these days of cell phones and email, reported the Baton Rouge based publication.

What a sad pathetic loser Bobby Jindal has become. What a bottom feeder.
