NEW YORK: Jig Patel, a veteran of the technology industry, has been appointed as the new executive vice president and chief information officer at the Kansas City-based UMB Financial Corp., the holding company for UMB Bank.
Patel will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s enterprise technology strategy, hiring and developing technical talent and using technology to grow the business, reported the Kansas City Biz Journal.
Prior to joining UMB, Patel spent a year as vice president of enterprise information technology at Epiq Systems Inc. of Kansas City, Kan., and nine years at IBM. He has a master’s degree in business administration, and bachelor degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Tennessee.
“As we all know, technology is rapidly evolving and we need someone with Jig’s expertise to lead us in the right direction from a financial services standpoint,” Peter deSilva, president and chief operating officer of UMB Financial Corp., said in a release. “We believe Jig’s prior experience at IBM coupled with his financial knowledge will be a true asset to our team and will help us attract and retain talent in this industry.”
