LinkedIn has rolled out an overhauled messaging service on the professional network site, replacing its email-like messaging service Inbox.
The update features a cleaner and more streamlined look, making it easier for users on the largest professional network to hold conversations with their connections, said LinkedIn in a blog post.
Taking cues from the chat apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn has developed the new feature to have a chat-style interface to allow for easy back and forth messaging.
The new format will have messages in a more organized way, which will make it easy to search and refer to. There is also improved push and email notification system.
Adding to the earlier photo and document attaching feature, LinkedIn has enabled adding of stickers, emojis, and GIFs into conversations. Voice and video conversations are also in the pipeline.
Furthermore, LinkedIn is working on concepts such as intelligent messaging assistants that can provide information about that person before starting a conversation with a connection.
The new messaging experience has started to ramp today to English-speaking members around the world on iOS, Android and the desktop web experience. The update would be rolled out for other languages in the coming weeks.
