Yu Televentures, the subsidiary brand of Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax, was out of the news after their second smartphone, Yuphoria failed to make the same impact created by Yureka, the company’s maiden smartphone.
The company had sent invites last week to media houses hinting a product launch and Yu today announced India’s cheapest 4G enabled smartphone, Yu Yunique for an unbeatable price of Rs. 4,999 ($75).
The CEO of Yu Televentures, Rahul Sharma, who was recently in the news after Bollywood actress Asin announced their marriage, today revealed the latest flagship device of his company.
Yu Yunique will be available exclusively through Snapdeal, the new official online partners of Yu Televentures, starting from September 15. Also, Snapdeal accidently listed the device earlier today, but soon the page went offline. The phone was listed in two variant-one with two back covers for a price of Rs. 5499 and a single unit of the device for Rs. 4999.
Yu Yunique features a 4.7-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixels and is protected by protected by the latest corning gorilla glass 3.
Like other Yu devices, Yunique also runs on the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB RAM. The device has an inbuilt storage capacity of 8GB expanded up to 32GB using microSD card.
What makes the new Yunique “unique” from other Yu smartphones is its operating system. Yunique for unknown reasons doesn’t run the Cyanogen OS, but rather on a customized version of Android Lollipop 5.1.
Coming to the camera department of the new Yunique, the makers have used an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash in the rear and a 2 megapixel selfie camera with 83-degree wide angle lens.
The most highlighted feature of the new handset is the 4G LTE connectivity that offers 150 megabits per second speed on supported networks. Currently, Airtel is offering 4G connectivity in 296 cities in India, including Bangalore. Other than this the phone has all basic connectivity features such as dual-sim, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
What makes Yunique one of the best 4G smartphone in the market is simply its price. The price tag of Rs. 4,999 ($75) is something that has left the competitors like Lenovo, Xiaomi and ZTE baffled.
