Amir Liaquat Hussain, one of the most famous news anchors in Pakistan has resigned from the post of President of Geo Network as a protest against fellow Geo News anchors Rabia Anum and Muhammad Junaid wearing Army Public School’s uniform in a news bulletin on December 15.
The act was intended to express Geo News channel’s solidarity for school children who had died during the Taliban attack in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.
Social media reacted against the news channel’s act by calling it as ‘cheap tactics for attention’.
Hussain took to twitter to announce his resignation, saying, “I am resigning as President of Geo Entertainment because I am not heard here but it will not stop from standing for the right.”

“This is not solidarity but utter nonsense to seek more attention and to hurt feelings may be un intentionaly but they are doing it,” he tweeted again.
“Does wearing these uniform means that no news from India (responsible for the massacre) would be broadcasted?,” he asked via Twitter.
Apologies to those mothers who are watching GEO news on this day & get hurt by seeing uniforms that bring painful memories #APSMartyrs
