A police investigation has found that a shootout that happened on the Meerut-Parikshitgarh Road on Thursday was a planned one. The shootout was planned by a 24-year-old man to kill his wife, reported The Times of India.
According to the police, Bijendra Singh from Meerut staged the shootout to kill his wife to get rid of her as he was in another relationship. His wife, Rajni Singh, was killed on the spot and he got himself shot in both legs to avoid suspicion.
Bijendra Singh, who was pursuing Master of Business Administration (MBA) managed to stage a ‘hold-up’ along with his friends on Parikshitgarh Road near Bahadurpur village, 28 km from Meerut city. Initially, the police thought that some criminals had fired at the couple.
Though Bijendra Singh had many other relationships, Rajni was still madly in love with him.
“We sensed something was amiss when the only survivor of the attack, Singh, gave conflicting statements about the shootout. During investigations at the native villages of the husband and wife, it came to light that the woman was 28-year old while Singh was only 22 at the time of wedding two years ago. Bijendra is currently pursuing MBA from a local institute. Another thing that got revealed was that Singh was having numerous affairs but still the woman was madly in love with him,” Investigative officer and Station Officer of Parikshitgarh police station, Shyam Vir Singh was quoted as saying by Times of India.
The turnaround in the investigation was the statement given by some locals that they had seen a gray colored, Delhi number-bearing car on the spot.
The police traced the car on Monday and arrested three youth. During interrogation, they revealed that the incident was a staged one and Bijendra Singh planned the entire incident.
The three youths were identified as Ashish Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Nitin Kumar. Bijendra approached his friend Ashish seeking help to kill his wife and offered to pay Rupees 50,000. Ashish and his friend Ajay Kumar agreed to help him.
Police said that Ashish Singh shot two bullets into Rajni Singh and Ajay and Ashish both shot at Bijendra in the legs at his instruction.
