Over 2o flights were diverted and several delayed due to bad weather in Delhi.
All these flights were diverted to Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Jaipur airports late in Monday evening and more than 2000 flyers were affected by the diversion and delays.
Airport officials said that the diverted flights including at least two international ones and many were delayed in the wake of adverse weather conditions.
Most of the diversions and delays mostly occurred between 3-7 pm and around eight flights were diverted between 5.15 – 9.30 pm.
Among others, a Saudia flight from Riyadh was diverted to Ahemedabad and an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah was diverted to Jaipur.
The Delhi airport sees around 1,100 flight movements every day.
After days of oppressive heat, speels of rain brought respite to the city yesterday. But a dust storm brought the entire city to a halt, blocking traffic and interrupting regular movement.
The Safdarjung observatory recorded 6.2 mm rain fall and the weather station at Palam recorded rain fall of 5.8 mm till 8.30 pm.
