A billboard put up by a strip club in Michigan received more attention than it intended to after the photo of the ad calling for applications from ‘students’ invited the anger of local residents.
A Harrison-based strip club by the name Miceli’s Corner, located in Clare County, put up a street sign saying, “Now hiring Class of 2016”, along with a phone number for interested candidates to contact.
Some locals got irked and bombarded the strip club asking it to remove the signboard as they found it encouraging to students to join the business.
WNEM.com reported that the residents of the tri-city area (Saginaw/Bay City/Midland) asked Miceli’s Corner to remove the sign.
Lisa Dickerson, a resident was quoted by WNEM.com saying, “Children fresh out of high school shouldn’t be taking their clothes off for money. I think it’s sickening.”
A few took their anger to social media, starting a Facebook campaign to complain about the sign and bombarded the strip club with incessant calls to remove the billboard.
“They’re good people, but I still don’t think it’s right. I don’t think it’s right at all,” said another resident of Clare County.
Miceli’s Corner has issued a statement saying: “In no way were we trying to offend anybody. The sign was simply a joke.”
