Goa police has busted a high-profile inter-state sex racket involving some actors and models, on Thursday.
India Today reported that the racket has been operating for four years and models and TV actors were supplied to starred-hotels across the state.
The police have arrested four persons involved in the running of the racket. They are identified as Anand Kumar, 46, Indradev, 19, Ramudesh, 24, and Santosh, 22. Anand Kumar from Mumbai is the kingpin of the racket. He was arrested from his residence in Ribandar. Others are residents of Bihar. They were arrested from Caranzalem.
According to police, customers from different states used to contact Anand Kumar through the phone for models. He supplied models and actors after arriving at an agreement regarding payment.
The details of models and actors have been recovered from the mobile phone of Anand Kumar. The police have also recovered a list of clients that include the names of corporate personalities and well-known political leaders.
“On his mobile phone, we found the names of several famed upcoming Bollywood actresses, along with ‘VIP’ customers,” said Karthik Kashyap, crime branch superintendent of police.
According to reports, the models charged between Rupees 5 lakh to 20 lakh from a single customer.
The police have been tracking the activities of the sex racket for some time. The investigation team arranged a decoy and contacted Naga Pramodh Kumar who used to deliver girls.
When the 23-year-old youth from Andhra Pradesh came to deliver a model, he was arrested. He mentioned the name of Anand Kumar during interrogation, leading to his arrest.
A case has been registered and the police have started a probe based on the details of clients recovered from Anand Kumar’s mobile phone. Separate cases of human trafficking have registered against him.
“He has at least five cases lodged against him in Maharashtra, we are digging up more information on him,” said Kashyap.
The investigation team has also started a search for two more suspects who are associates of Kumar.
The arrested have been remanded to five-day police custody by a judicial first class magistrate.
Mumbai police had busted a high-profile sex racket and arrested two models, earlier this week.
