It seems like the year 2016 will be marked by yet another biopic: social activist Anna Hazare’s life is set to be imprinted on celluloid as director/actor Shashank Udapurkar is getting ready with the movie titled ‘Anna’.
Anna Hazare, who was present during the poster launch of the biopic, praised the makers for the attempt to capture his Gandhian life on camera. He added that he hopes the film will inspire people to have pure thoughts and lead a life without the shadows of sins.
“This film is not fictitious. It is not that the script is made out of imagination and then a film is made on it. This is practical. The film is based on what happened on the ground and because of this, there would be good weightage for the film,” said Hazare.
Along with the director/actor Shashank Udapurkar and Anna himself, veteran actor Sharat Saxena and Tanisha Mukerji also attended the poster launch event.
According to reports, Tanisha, who was last seen in Big Boss, will play the role of a journalist in the movie. It is after eight years that Tanisha is making a comeback in Bollywood.
The poster of “Anna” has Shashank Udapurkar in the anti-corruption crusader’s avatar, addressing a large gathering. The movie will look back at the childhood days of Anna Hazare; his days while serving the army and his recorded life as the mascot of India against corruption campaign.
It is not sure whether the director will delve into the life of Anna after his anti-corruption campaign. Anna, who led the campaign, was ignored after current Chief Minister of Delhi Aravind Kejriwal took the center stage of the protest, and his anti-corruption co-fighter Kiran Bedi joined the BJP.
