The cover page of the latest issue of India Today magazine featuring yoga guru Baba Ramdev has gone viral. Ramdev is seen doing an asana with his head upside down between his two legs.
As soon as the issue was unveiled, the social media realized the humor behind it and came up with trolls targeting the posture of Ramdev.
While many of the jokes mocked Ramdev saying he was practicing for Rio Olympics and comparing him with fighter jets, a relevant question being asked was about the abnormal upward position of his long beard.
In the photo, Ramdev’s beard is seen standing in perfect upward direction. Many of the Twitterati raised the question whether his beard breached the law of gravity.
When people started questioning whether such an asana exists in yoga, the magazine has come up with an explanation on its website.
According to a report in India Today, the asana the yoga guru performing is a variety of what is called as Prasarita Padottanasana (Wide Stance Forward Bend). Apart from explaining the benefits of the asana, they also posted a YouTube video showing how to perform it.
