In a cruel incident, a group of teenagers burnt three puppies alive in Musheerabad in Hyderabad. The incident happened on July 16 came to light when an animal right activist filed a complaint with the police seeking action against the teenagers after the video of their gruesome act appeared on social media.
The Musheerabad police have registered a case under section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) of the IPC and section 11 (1) (L) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the teenagers who are yet to be identified, on the complaint filed by NGO Humane Society International (HSI) activist Shreya Paropkari on Wednesday.
“We have registered a case and arrests will be made soon,” Musheerabad sub-inspector (SI) B Ravi Kumar Reddy told The Times of India.
In the 2-minute-50-second video, the teenagers are seen burning three puppies alive after tying them together in an open place. When the puppies try to crawl away from the fire, they were seen pushing them back. It seems like one of the teenagers shot the video and spread it on WhatsApp.
The police have identified that the incident happened at Wazir Graveyard, Musheerabad. The Times of India reported that the teenagers are juveniles from Pathan Basti at Musheerabad. But their identity has not been revealed yet.
The HIS has approached Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy seeking strict action against the accused.
In a similar incident, a medical student was arrested from Chennai on July 6 for throwing a dog from a building. His gruesome act was also shot by his friend and posted on Facebook leading to widespread outrage against the medical student.
