Superstar Rajinikanth, who was on a vacation in US, has returned to India on Sunday with his daughter Aishwarya Dhanush.
He was welcomed in Chennai by cheering fans crowded the airport for a glimpse of the 65-year-old actor, NDTV reported.
As part of his vacation, the actor is rumoured to have attended a detoxification program. On July 17, Rajinikanth and Aishwaryaa visited the Satchidananda Ashram, also known as Yogaville, in Virginia.
The actor also watched the premier show of his latest movie ‘Kabali’ with his daughter and fans in San Francisco.
The movie, which had reportedly earned Rs 200 crore from its pre-release business, is also on a winning spree in North America. The movie collected $3.5 million from North America in just two days including the premiers. ‘Kabali’ was distributed via Cine Galaxy Inc. in US and Canada.
“At $3.5 million, ‘Kabali’ has emerged as the top grossing Tamil film and second highest south Indian grosser after ‘Baahubali’. Despite mixed reviews, the film has done exceptionally well across all centres throughout North America,” Sanjan, co-founder of CineGalaxy Inc. quoted by IANS.
Directed by Pa. Ranjith ‘Kabali’ narrates the story of a gangster who fights for equal pay rights for Tamils in Malaysia.
