Bollywood turned Hollywood actor Priyanka Chopra and R&B star Usher on Tuesday announced that they will join popular US television anchor Seth Meyers, American actors Neil Patrick Harris and Salma Hayek Pinault to host the United Nation’s Global Citizen Festival.
The annual event, which raises awareness about global issues, will take place on 24 September in Central Park, New York. Priyanka made her announcement while participating in ‘Today show’ along with Usher. She also shared the news by tweeting her photo with the hip hop star.
“So fun “ushering” in the day with you! Lol! Super proud to be hosting #GlobalCitizen with @Usher and so many others!” Baywatch star tweeted.
The festival that made its debut in 2012 will feature high profile music performers like Kendrik Lamar, Metallica, Major Lazer, Usher, Selena Gomez, Rihanna among others.
The festival is organized as part of an initiative to promote the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals, which aims to end global poverty by 2030.
“The spirit of the Global Citizen Festival is something very dear to me. With the opportunities to travel I’ve been given through my work, I see the world as an interconnected force-and this festival is an incredible example of the power of looking across our borders, and working together for the greater good. I’m very much looking forward to co-hosting this year, with such an amazing group of talent,” Priyanka said.
