Sophie Messenger, a Childbirth educator from UK, recently shared a video of her friend using the ‘natural caesarean method’ on Facebook with the friends consent.
The video went viral online and within two days and being viewed more than 2.4 million times.
In the video, the little baby boy was seen effectively delivering himself, and wriggling his way out of his mother’s stomach through an incision made during caesarean instead of being removed by the doctor.
Messenger explains that the mother had a very specific set of requirements for the birth and had a hard time finding a hospital and doctor who would agree to her. The requirements include using her own music, dimming the room’s lighting, being able to view the birth using a mirror, leaving the umbilical cord attached until it stopped pulsing, and leaving the baby with the mom until the family was ready to have the baby be weighed and measured.
“A friend had the most gorgeous gentle caesarean yesterday- it was quite a journey because her local hospital refused to entertain any of her wishes, so she had to move to another hospital where she found the most supportive consultant (Dr. Andy Simm at Nottingham City hospital), who not only agreed to support all her wishes but filmed the birth to use it to educate other health pros… For me this really shows how it isn’t how the baby is born but how the people present respect wishes and demonstrate support and kindness that makes a beautiful birth,” Messagner wrote.
However, many medical professionals have also raised concerns about this delivery.

“gentle cesarean
The official hospital film should be released in a week or 2.
These were the mother’s wishes:
* no drapes
* walking out of the baby to help clear lungs
* delivery to chest if cord allowed
* cord left to stop pulsing before cutting
* no weighing or measuring until family ready
* baby to stay on mum until she was ready to part (it was 6 hours). Even when pat sliding to transfer.
* own music
* lights reduced
On top of that, the anaesthetist lifted the mother’s shoulders and someone held a mirror to help view the birth.If you want to read more about the technique, see here http://
