The anarchist group INDECLINE erected the statues.
Sparking a slew of tweets poking fun, life-size nude statues of Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump was appeared in the cities of New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle.
The orange-tinted statue-featuring a massive belly, small fingers and missing some genital parts-were simultaneously unveiled in downtown Manhattan’s Union Square Park and public places in the four other US cities.
The anarchist group INDECLINE erected the statues, titled “The Emperor Has No Balls,” overnight Thursday and arrives several months after the group covered stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with the names of African Americans who have killed by police.
In the past the group has also claimed responsibility for an anti-trump “Rape” mural on the US-Mexico border and a massive piece of graffiti art in California’s Mojave Desert.
“These fleeting installations represent this fleeting nightmare and in the fall, it is our wish to look back and laugh at Donald Trump’s failed and delusional quest to obtain the presidency,” INDECLINE said in a statement.
The artist behind the designs, Ginger, said he wanted to give Trump a “constipated look”. The statues show a veiny Trump with a saggy bottom. There are also specific details, such as a Masonic ring on his finger.
The group also released a video showing the making of the statue on YouTube.
In New York, the unauthorized installation appeared to surprise passers-by prompting stares, giggling and shrugs of bemusement form park visitors.
“It was crazy: I was coming off the train, minding my own business, and there it was,” Reuters quoted a 58-year-old retiree.
Workers from New York’s Department of Parks and Recreation had taken down the statue by the early afternoon. Authorities said that any unapproved structure is illegal in any city park.
New York City mayor Bill de Blasio was asked what he thought of the statue during a press conference.
“That is a frightening thought,” de Blasio said. “When he’s wearing cloths I don’t like him.”
According to Reuters, a Trump spokesperson did not respond immediately to an email with a request for comment.
