Apple announces iPhone 7 launch date, in India.
For those who thought Apple’s latest flagship device iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will come at a reduced price in India, the latest information coming from the Cupertino-based company is a bit baffling. Apple India has announced the price of the recently unveiled iPhones and the premium smartphone is going to cost enthusiasts a lot of their hard-earned money.
Apple India announced that the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus 32GB, 128GB and 256GB will cost Rs 72,000, Rs 82,000 and Rs 92,000, respectively, whereas the 5-inch iPhone 7 32GB, 128GB and 256GB will be priced at Rs 60,000, Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000, respectively.
The company has also announced the new price of its earlier version, the iPhone 6s Plus, which will now cost Rs 60,000 for the 32GB version and the iPhone 6s 32GB storage variant has been priced at Rs 50,000.
The revised price of iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus 128GB variants will be priced at Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000, respectively. Interestingly, iPhone 6s 128GB and iPhone 6 plus 128 GB has received a price cut of Rs. 22,000.
The price cut comes just days before the new iPhone 7 series is set to launch in India on October 7. Even though Apple is yet to officially start pre-orders for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, third-party companies such as IWorld have started accepting pre-booking for the next generation of Apple’s flagship smartphones.
Meanwhile, Apple announced that it has already sold out the initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus globally as Apple Inc. A company release says all color variants of iPhone 7 Plus – the 5.5-inch version has been sold out.
“We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible,” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said in a statement.
Adding to this, the company also claims that the newly launched devices which feature improved cameras and eliminate the traditional headphone jack in favor of new technology have high demand.
“Based on everything I’ve seen it looks like demand is very strong,” analyst Jan Dawson of Jackdaw Research wrote in an email.
US wireless service providers Sprint Corp and T-Mobile US Inc. said they are receiving strong pre-orders for the iPhone 7, propelling the shares of Apple Inc.
