Snubs Nawaz Sharif’s rant on Kashmir.
Causing another major embarrassment for Pakistan, the US Secretary of State John Kerry has asked the alleged sponsors of the Uri terror attack to take action against the perpetrators and snubbed its rant for Kashmir, giving India the much needed support for isolating Pakistan internationally.
According to India Today, the Secretary of State during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, asked him to support India in its efforts to thwart terrorists who attacked the military camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 19 Indian soldiers.
It also reported that the US has ridiculed the Pakistan’s ran for Kashmir and has asked Sharif to support India in all possible ways in the investigation of Uri attack.
The Secretary of State, during an earlier meeting with Sharif, warned terrorists using Pakistan’s territory as a safe abode for conducting attacks across the world.
The Indian Military camp in Uri came under attack of four terrorists who reportedly crossed the Line of Control and opened fire at Indian soldiers. 19 soldiers lost their lives in the attack and all four terrorists were neutralized. The bodies of the terrorists had Pakistan markings signalling that the attack was a cross-border terror.
After summoning the Pakistan High Commissioner to India on Wednesday, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said, “The latest terrorist attack in Uri only underlines that the infrastructure of terrorism in Pakistan remains active,” S Jaishankar told Basit. “If the Government of Pakistan wishes to investigate these cross-border attacks, India is ready to provide finger prints and DNA samples of terrorists killed in the Uri and Poonch incident.”
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif spoke at the United Nations General Assembly and once again raised the issue of Kashmir and praised the slain terrorist Burhan Wani, who was killed by the Indian security forces a month back.
Sharif in his speech at the UN said, “Kashmiris want freedom from India. Peace between India and Pakistan cannot be finally achieved without resolution to the Kashmir dispute.”
He glorified Burhan Wani saying, “The young leader murdered by Indian forces has emerged as a symbol of latest Kashmiri Intifada”.
