WASHINGTON, DC: Infosys, an India-based company that provides information technology, consulting and outsourced back office services for other firms, said it plans to expand its metro Atlanta, Georgia, operations and hire 200 people over the next 12 months.
Infosys, which currently has about 350 employees at two offices in Cobb County, said it would add the bulk of the new employees within a unit that performs support roles for financial services, insurance, human resources and health care companies. No average salary was provided, however, the company said the duties will be highly skilled, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution..
“We are in a growth mode, and an investment mode,” said Sandeep Dadlani, an Infosys vice president. Dadlani said the firm has identified the regions as a strategic hub and plans to work with local universities to “calibrate curriculum so that we can recruit local talent here.” He did not rule out future expansion.
Cobb County has a young workforce in the age group of 25-44, which, according to industry watchers was one of the reasons that prompted the BPO arm to add to its existing workforce. Also, the county has low taxes when compared with some other South eastern regions, according to Cobb County officials.
