100 scholarships to study in India

NEW YORK: The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has announced a scholarship scheme for Indian Americans to study in India.
“Scholarship Program for Diaspora Children”, for 2013-14, is open to only PIOs/NRIs. Those already studying in India on a self-financing basis or other grants are not eligible for this scholarship scheme, says a release by the government of India.
According to the program, interested and qualified students can try for 100 scholarships for undergraduate courses in several disciplines, including: Engineering and Technology/Architecture, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management – including Hotel Management, Journalism, Agriculture/ Animal Husbandry, Science and Law.
The release says admissible amount of scholarship would be 75 percent of the Institutional economic cost which includes tuition and hostel fees and other institutional charges or up to $4,000 per annum, whichever is less.
