WASHINGTON, DC: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi may have been stymied by the US in getting a visa and reaching out to the Indian Diaspora here, but his message is going to be delivered by the BJP President Rajnath Singh, who will be visiting the US and Canada next week.
Singh, who will visit Washington, DC, New York and New Jersey in the US, has some public meets lined up, including a key note address titled “India–Afghanistan and Regional Security” at the Rayburn House on Capitol Hill.
The meet on Capitol Hill is being organized by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies and the United States India Political Action Committee (USINPAC). Singh will also meet some prominent members of Congress during his visit to Capitol Hill.
A highlight of Singh’s visit to New Jersey, where he is set to be warmly greeted and felicitated by the sizeable Gujarati community there, is a speech he will deliver at TV Asia in New Jersey. The meet is being organized by the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP), according to a statement released by OFBJP Convener Vijay Jolly.
TV Asia had also broadcast Modi’s address from Ahmedabad, after he was denied a visa to the US.
Singh will also meet some Indian American businessmen in several private gatherings and receptions which are being planned for him in Washington, DC., New York and New Jersey. His visit gains importance because of the upcoming general elections and speculation over who is going to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
