Nokia launches Lumia 625, 4G smartphone

Budget phone has 4.7 inch display screen.

BANGALORE: Nokia unveiled its most awaited 4.7 inch LCD display budget level smartphone, Nokia Lumia 625, which has 4G LTE feature that was attributed only to high end smartphones.

Nokia Lumia 625, like all other Lumia phones runs on Windows platform and comes with 1.2GH Duel Core Snapdragon S4 Processor with 512MB RAM and 8 GB internal Memory which is expandable upto 64GB via SD Memory Card. Lumia 625 also has a 5 MP rear camera with LED Flash, which can shoot videos in High Definition Quality (HD) and a front VGA camera for Video calls and chats. This version of the Nokia Lumia Series also comes with free 7GB cloud storage in SkyDrive, a Cloud based storage app from Microsoft.

The features that make Lumia 625 a stand out among other smartphones in the same price tag is its additional memory of 64GB and the 4G LTE integration that offers lightning fast Internet access at a speed of 100Mbps.

Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices in a press release said “With our largest smartphone screen to date, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a perfect example of how Nokia is delivering leading smartphone innovation and experiences at every price point,”

The latest version of Nokia Lumia phone, Lumia625 also has new applications called Nokia Smart Camera and Cinemagraph, which can add motion to the captured photos. The Nokia official release also says that all Lumia devices can now download more than 165,000 apps including messenger apps like WhatsApp, Video streaming apps such as Vimeo and Fun filled games like Temple Run.

The estimated price of Nokia Lumia625 is approximately $290 (Rs. 17,300). Nokia is planning to ship the device to China, Europe, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in the third quarter of 2013. The new Lumia is coming to India at a time when Nokia is dragging behind other Indian companies like Micromax and Karbon in sales. The new affordable entrant into Lumia series is expected to boost the sales of Nokia, which once monopolized India’s mobile spectrum.
