BANGALORE: Bulgari’s new line of fragrance in the popular Omnia range is inspired by India, and therefore it has aptly been named The Indian Garnet.
The fragrance was launched earlier this year in the palace of the Maharaja of Jaipur which is now a fabulous hotel and a popular choice for international tourists. The fragrance launch took place in broad daylight and under the shade of colorful umbrellas on the grounds of the palace.
Alberto Morillas, a Spanish perfume genius who is also the creator of The Indian Garnet, told The Star Online, “For this new story, we looked for an immediate evocation of the Indian sub-continent. I wanted this perfume to be a recreation, and not a mere catalogue of exotic travel memories.”
Morillas, who quite often works with Bulgari, was inspired to create this perfume after he was shown a big Mandarin Garnet.
“We started with this beautiful colour, and from it, this energy, life and uniqueness,” said Morillas in an interview with the Malaysian press. “I immediately found myself bathed in the light of India where, in the evening, everything is inflamed in this very distinctive shade of orange as the sun sets.”
Morillas said he was inspired by strong elements like tuberose and saffron, both symbolising India. Along with that he used Sicilian mandarin and also osmanthus to increase the overall softness and voluptuousness. He also added the “evocation of Indian wood which gives the scent its very contemporary notes.”
“Each of the accord reminded me of the colour of a sari. So, in a way, I have created my own collection of saris!” he added.
Lithuanian supermodel Edita Vilkeviciute is the face of the new fragrance inspired by the subcontinent.
