BANGALORE: Actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan has grand plans for his upcoming Diwali release, Happy New Year: King Khan is going to go on road shows in the US and Canada to promote his film, apart from various cities in India.
Shah Rukh, whose Red Chillies Entertainment is producing Happy New Year, has asked all his co-stars of this film to keep the months preceding the film’s release void of appointments.
One of Shah Rukh’ co-stars, according to DNA India, said, “Shah Rukh has asked all of us to keep two months, August and September completely free of all other engagements. None of us is allowed to shoot for any film during those two months.”
Directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, and Jackie Shroff. Shah Rukh plans to take his co-stars and his director to road shows across US and Canada.
Adds the actor, “We don’t know what we will be required to do at these shows. But Shah Rukh will be taking all of us from the cast of Happy New Year to the streets in various cities of the US and Canada where we will be performing and interacting with fans. We expect crowds of thousands on the streets as Shah Rukh has a huge fan base in that part of the world.”
This is Shah Rukh’s third venture with Farah Khan after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om and also third venture with Deepika after Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express (also major hits) and second film with Abhishek after Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, which though received mixed responses, got praise for Bachchan’s and Shah Rukh’s performances.
The makers of this film have described it as a ‘musical heist.’ The films tagline: ‘Iss Diwali… Todenge Taale India Waale’, seems to indicate the same.
While Salman has his Kick in Eid, and Aamir has reserved his usual December spot for P.K., Shah Rukh’s occupying the Diwali slot comes off as little surprise. Everyone is expecting this to be a major hit of this year. As a result of that, no other mainstream Bollywood film is releasing anytime between three weeks prior and two weeks after the release of Happy New Year.
Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom, Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang and Shahid Kapoor’s Haider will release on October 2, while Ajay Devgn’s Action Jackson and Ranveer Singh’s Kill Dil will release on November 7 and 14, respectively. Looks like no one is daring to tread anywhere near Happy New Year’s release.
Happy New Year releases in theaters on October 23.

Bang bang will beat khans’ films… Hrithik katrina best couple with best action sequences n with best music n dances. Bang bang will be only film to cross 300 crore, while khans can cross 200 crore if their masala film would be liked by audience.
