BANGALORE: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to discuss some of the issues raised by his social cause related TV show, Satyameva Jayate.
“Just came out of my meeting with Honorable Prime Minister of India Shree Narendra Modiji. Was very kind of him to spare his valuable time,” tweeted Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood.
His meeting with the PM was related to the issue raised by the fifth episode of the second season of this popular TV show, which dealt with the criminalization of politics, and to the unethical practices that take place in India during elections.
Khan also focused on the criminal records of the politicians, and also how common voters do not refrain from demanding money from party workers for their votes. While there is a big faction of the population who do not think that their votes matter, a large number of people sell their votes in exchange for TV, refrigerator, alcohol or other commodities. This episode was aired on March 30 this year on the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The theme for this year’s Voter’s Day which was celebrated in January was ‘Ethical Voting’, a topic close to the issues raised by Khan in his TV show.
Along with a picture of himself with Prime Minister Modi, Khan also tweeted, “Shared with him the overwhelming support that we got from people across the country through ‘Vote for Change’ campaign on SMJ (Satyamev Jayate) on the various issues that we tackled in our show. He has assured me that he will look into all the matters.”
