BANGALORE: Promising new starlet Parineeti Chopra is hardly three years and five movies old in Bollywood industry and she is already into mentoring other youngsters who aspire to join the industry.
The 25-year-old actress, who is one of the few actresses in Bollywood to not come from a background of modeling, will be seen on her own TV show for the first time. The show is titled Cinestars Ki Khoj. Parineeti will be playing mentor to the show’s contestants who are Bollywood aspirants.
Cinestars Ki Khoj will be aired on Zee Network. The show will be judged by yesteryear heroine Sonali Bendre and Dhoom: 3 director Vijay Krishna Acharya. The show will be hosted by Hussain Kuwajerwala.
Namit Kapoor, the programming head of the channel, said in a statement, “We’re in talks with many members of the film fraternity, to be a part of the selection and grooming process of our contestants. Parineeti’s journey from being a PR consultant and an aspiring investment banker to Bollywood will inspire our contestants; her insights will add value to their learning process.”
Parineeti used to work as a marketing professional for Yash Raj Films, before getting noticed and being cast in one of their films, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, where she played a supporting role, but got more noticed than the film’s lead protagonists, Anushka and Ranveer.
Of course, cousin Priyanka chopra must have inspired if not talked her into the film industry. But apart from that Parineeti is mostly a self-made woman. The makers of the TV show are certain that this aspect of Parineeti’s life will be received well when she plays mentor to younger would-be stars of tomorrow.
After Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Parineeti starred opposite Arjun Kapoor in Ishaqzaade, Sushant Singh Rajput in Shuddh Desi Romance, and Sidharth Malhotra in Hasee Toh Phasee.
She is yet to star in any film opposite any of the big-shot heroes of Bollywood like the Khans or the Kumars. All her co-stars have been newcomers, just like her. But all her films have been commercial successes, making her one of most sought after heroines in the industry today. Her next two films will feature her opposite Aditya Roy Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, respectively.
