BENGALURU: After the overwhelming reaction for the newly launched OnePlus One smartphone, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to put the device for invite-free sale on every Tuesdays, starting from tomorrow.
According to the official announcement of the company, in addition to the weekly sale that needs compulsory invite, the invite-free sale will be available to all users globally during Tuesdays.
The official email accessed by The American Bazaar reads, “To celebrate the successful completion of 10 weeks of OnePlus in India, Amazon and OnePlus will hold the first-ever open sale of OnePlus One phones, starting 10 AM on February 10, 2015.”
The global sales of the device will commence at midnight in Los Angeles and will be open for the next 24 hours until the stock goes out. The first invite-free sale of OnePlus One will feature 16 GB Silk White and 64 GB Sandstone Black models of the device.
According to the official blog of OnePlus, the new move will make OnePlus One available for buyers who failed to get an invite. The Chinese start-up company has also acknowledged that its invite-only selling method has many shortcomings and, therefore, an invite-free day will give an opportunity for more buyers to own the device, thus increasing the sales.
OnePlus received mixed reaction in India due to the failure of the company to offer further Cyanogen OS update after the Delhi high court ruled in favor of Micromax subsidiary Yu, which has the patent to sell Cyanogen OS-based smartphones in India. In order to tackle this, OnePlus has decided to roll out its own customized Android OS in India.
Interestingly, Flipkart will kick-start the sales of Xiaomi Mi4, which shares similar specification and price, on the same day.
Keeping aside the issues with the OS, OnePlus One is a real beast with a 5.5 inches, 1080p touchscreen display which is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core processor with Adreno 330 GPU. The operational capacity and performance of the device is enhanced by Qualcomm’s heterogeneous computing approach.
The powerful processor of OnePlus One is coupled with 3 GB of LP-DDR3 RAM running at 1866MHz, allowing a flawless multitasking experience.
Also, the Snapdragon processor is equipped with a 4G LTE multimode modem, enabling faster internet across six cities in India, where 4G is currently available.
Coming to the camera department of the new device, OnePlus has used a Sony Exmor 13 MP IMX21 rear camera that can produce astounding images. Adding to this the phone also has a dual LED flash to brighten the image.
OnePlus One also has an impressive 5 megapixel front camera for selfie enthusiasts, giving an extra-wide 80º viewing angle that can capture more area than normal smartphones.
OnePlus invite-free flash sales will be also available in select other countries: United States, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Austria, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Portugal.
