Yu source confirms upcoming update.

BENGALURU: The much anticipated Lollipop update for Yu Yureka is once again delayed as the subsidiary brand of Miromax is reportedly waiting for the Google certificate for its new cyanogen-based operating system, dubbed CyanogenMOD12.
According to the Yureka official forum, soon after getting the approval from Google, the company will start rolling out the OTA update, which was first scheduled for March 26. GSMArena had reported last week that the update will hit the phones by the first week of April, but that didn’t happen.
In response to an email query by The American Bazaar, the Yu support staff wrote, “we would like to inform you that as we are going to release the lollipop update by the April month and update will be available for all the users of Yureka.”
The unofficial 32-bit beta version of the Lollipop update is currently available for beta testers via the official Yu forum but there is no trace of the 64-bit version of Cyanogenmod 12. An earlier Facebook post of Yureka had asked the users to be patient as there are a few more bugs to be fixed before the update can reach them. Several users commented positively saying that they look forward for a bug free version of Lollipop even if the update is delayed.
Currently, Yureka runs on CyanogenMod 11, which is basically the custom version of Android KitKat 4.4 OS.
Yureka is powered by a 64-Bit Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor but, to utilize the full potential of the 64-bit processing it is essential to have Lollipop operating system as it is the first ever Android OS engineered for 64-bit operations.
Yureka, priced Rs. 8,999, has already garnered attention of the tech arena and is putting stiff opposition to Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi and Lenovo that also focus on budget smartphone segment in India.
Yu is also planning for the launch of its second smartphone code-named “Project Caesar,” by the end of this month.
Technical specifications of Yu Yureka:
- 5.5in HD IPS display
- Android 4.4 KitKat operating platform powered by CyanogenMod OS 11
- 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor
- Dual SIM-card support
- 13MP rear camera
- 5MP front camera
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage up to 32GB
- 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and microUSB connectivity
